Toyota Safety Education programme

As a responsible corporate citizen, Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) has initiated a number of community development activities. It has also undertaken an educational traffic safety campaign in schools across India as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility initiative. Toyota Safety Education Programme (TSEP) - an interactive learning program on traffic safety is designed to instill a sense of road safety in school children in the age group of 6 to13 years and thereby make them responsible citizens of the future.

TSEP impacted 131 schools and over 100000 children across 5 cities- Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai and Bangalore during the period 2008-09. IETS, the facilitator of the project, was entrusted with the following roles:

  • Sensitizing and training school teachers to take the Toyota Safety Education Programme forward. This was done through a one day training program with 50 teachers in each location
  • Design of Traffic Safety Games for classrooms
  • Activity Page Design for the Comic and Fun fact books given to the students
  • Organizing TSEP activities in new schools to create enthusiasm for Toyota Safety Education Programme
  • Carrying out an in-depth analysis of the responses received from students, teachers and parents to evaluate the programme impact
  • Organizing TSEP activities at Toyota Dealer Points
  • Participating in the Road Safety Week activities organized by the city Traffic Police in Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai and Bangalore
  • Designing a website showcasing TSEP in Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai and Bangalore

Due to efficient implementation of TSEP, TKM has extended the programme to the following academic year i.e 2009-10. In each of the 5 metros, 10,000 children are now being newly identified for TSEP which would also involve 10,000 participants from the former batch.
