Read to Lead “Read to Lead” is an initiative by ICICI Bank to facilitate elementary education for 1,00,000 children who are currently out of school. It aims at providing underprivileged children, including the female children, tribal children and children from remote rural areas, with access to education. Funds for organizations associated with the Read to Lead Initiative are received through Give India, a donation platform that raises funds and helps the donor reach beneficiaries. With its Kit Approach, IETS will facilitate the implementation of the project by offering to raise standards of English, Maths and Science teaching in schools catering to disadvantaged children. The activities are being taken through the IETS Regional Offices to seven locations where 132 schools are being covered. During the program, about 400 teachers will be trained and 37057 students impacted. Officially launched in March 2009, Read to Lead project will be carried out through 2009-10. IETS methodology includes raising the standards of English, Math and Science teaching in schools through the ‘Kit Approach’. The Kit Approach is designed to motivate the students to learn and inspire creative teaching. In the process, it improves student performance and teaching capacity.
