IL&FS Skills launches its second Institute in the North-East
In alignment with the Government of India's vision to provide good quality skills programmes and linkages to jobs for the youth in the northeast region, IL&FS Skills launched its second IL&FS Institute of Skills (IIS) in Shillong, Meghalaya on April 23rd 2013.
The IIS was inaugurated by Mr. WMS Pariat IAS, Chief Secretary, Government of Meghalaya. He was joined by Mr. KN Kumar IAS, Principal Secretary, Community & Rural Development & Fisheries, Ms. L. Kharkongor IAS, Commissioner & Secretary, Department of Commerce & Industries and Mr. Shamit Chakravarti from the Asian Development Bank.
Addressing the students and trainers at the launch, Mr. Pariat re-emphasised the urgency for youth to undertake vocational skills and training to be able to get good job opportunities both within and outside the state.
Mr. Pariat also highlighted that youth of the state were diligent but need linkages with jobs. He also spent time visiting the exhibition at the Institute which showcased IL&FS Skills' unique placement linked skills training methodology, interactive curriculum and strong industry linkages.
