GAIN and IL&FS Education sign MoU to improve nutritional outcomes of HIV patients
The Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN) in co-operation with IL&FS Education & Technology Services Limited (IETS) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to advocate and implement effective nutrition interventions within public health delivery programmes, especially the National HIV/AIDS programme and the National Rural Health Mission (NRHM), Government of India.
GAIN is a Geneva based alliance which was set up at a special session of the UN General Assembly on Children in 2002 with the aim to envision a world without malnutrition.
Mr. Reddy, MD - IL&FS Education signed the MoU on behalf of IL&FS Education, while Mr. Marc Van Ameringen - Executive Director signed on behalf of GAIN.
Under this alliance IL&FS Education GAIN will cordially work for a common goal to deliver nutrition-based interventions, design and further implement appropriate strategies to improve nutritional outcomes for HIV mothers and children.
GAIN and IETS will also work together to develop appropriate framework for implementing at-scale training and capacity building programmes for public health personnel especially for the National HIV/AIDS programme and NRHM.
The MoU will also facilitate high-level research programmes to understand best practices in the areas of public health nutrition, nutrition deficiencies and food fortification.
