Join Hands in fighting Cancer
A review on Science Day Celebration of H.B Kapadia New High School, Memnagar, Ahmedabad
On 2nd March 'Cancer Awareness Day' was held at H.B.K. Memnagar along with the support of Medisurge Hospital. In this excellent, informative exhibition there were a number of posters and charts which gave a detailed insight on the causes, prevention and the types of cancer.
The best part was, H.B.K’ites were fortunate to have Dr. Jagdish Kothari (GI & Hepatobiliary Surgical Oncologist) who gave the students a PowerPoint presentation explaining the whys and hows of cancer. He had a healthy interaction with the students. His message “Prevention is better than Cure & complete awareness of this disease can help us avoid it’’ was loud and clear. The students of standard 8, 9 and 11 were made to realize that they can be the true ambassadors, who after acquiring so much of knowledge about cancer can in turn, be the torch bearers to the society at large.
H.B.K’s managing trustee Shri Muktak N. Kapadia applauded and promised his full support to this noble cause.

The Joy of Giving
A report on a special initiative taken by the students of Shayona International School, Ahmedabad, by Ms Dolly Pathak, Principal..
The whole nation, from celebrities to common men, has celebrated the “Joy of Giving Week” from September 27 to October 3, 2009. However, we feel that giving something back to society can't be restricted to just a week. This should be a 24 x 365 hour activity. To inculcate this habit in our tiny tots we decided to extend this Activity from one week to a whole year.
On sharing our views with our pupils all of them spontaneously responded with full zing and enthusiasm. Few would believe that students between the ages of 5 and 12 collected an amount of Rs. 50,000 from their society. If these young ones can have so much warmth for elderly people then how does this essence of love diminish as we get older?
We celebrated two days at Jeevan Sandhya Old Age Home at Ankur/Naranpura and one day at Matru Chaya Old Age Home at Sanand Talaka on October 8th and 11th. What is important is not the amount that was collected but the beauty of experience, the warmth of love and affection that we received from the residents. They were all so eager to see the children,to live and play with them.
We are left with questions for ourselves and for society. Why can we not control our tears when we visit such places? Whatever our age, we all need love then how can we take such moves that result in old age homes?
All of us have this love embedded deep down in our hearts, it only needs to be polished a bit. So, don't let your love tarnish!
