Progressive Educational Techniques Society (PETS) is a Kolkata-based organisation dedicated to networking teachers in schools. Apart from in-service teacher development programs PETS also publishes a magazine – Teacher Talk. We bring you excerpts from their Christmas issue by special arrangement with PETS.

Parties during the Christmas season are loved by one and all, and it becomes all the more interesting if children organise and make different party stuff, ranging from invitation cards to gifts and wrapping papers, all by themselves. Here are a few simple tips for a fun-filled Christmas party.

Invitations: The easiest way to make an invitation card is to cut out chart paper into different shapes and painting it with bright colours.

Gift tags: Gift tags made in the shapes of a Christmas tree or Santa Claus with a string on the top will be appreciated by all.

Decorations: Motifs can be made in variety of shapes and attached to the edges of paper plates. Paper napkins can even be painted with bright colours to make them look attractive.

Wrapping paper: For this you will need a sponge cut into any shape that you desire (maybe a star) and pasted on a cardboard piece which is to be attached to a cotton reel on the other side. Dip the sponge in paint and print any plain paper and make colourful gift wrappers.

Gift packs: Gifts can be placed inside a toilet paper roll and the whole thing covered with colourful crepe papers in shapes like a toffee. Alternatively, gifts like chocolates and sweets can be put in a paper glass and the glass decorated with crepe paper to form a Santa.

Food: Some interesting easy to make food for the party can be like making dollypops. Stick toothpicks into jujubes, dip in milk and roll in powered sugar. Ice-cream pies can be made by crushing barley sugar over top of ice-cream and adding a candy cane.

Hope all the above suggestions will make your Christmas party a memorable one. Wish you all a Merry Christmas!
